Saline County Government Day
Wednesday, October 11th the Senior American Government class attended Saline County Government Day in Wilber. This event was sponsored by the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary units from the county. The day started with introductions by Forrest Doyle, Saline County Veterans Service Officer. Randy Pryor, Saline County Extension Agent, shared a “Nebraska County Government” power-point presentation. Students were assigned an office in the Saline County Government, taking the oath of office, and were sworn in by County Magistrate Mr. Josh McDougall . The students spent two hours completing a scavenger hunt that took them to several of the county offices to find answers to questions concerning the various offices. Students were able to see some of the new improvements made to the county courthouse as a result of the new addition to the building. Lunch was served at the new American Legion Hall in Wilber. After lunch students had an opportunity to visit the Saline County Jail. Those seniors attending included: Anna Anderson, Rachel Bottom, Breauna Derr, Kyle Dickinson, Carson Guinn, Kolby Houlden, Josie Hulse, Paige Kraus, Claire Kubicek, Jared Lawver, Maggie Lawver, Synne Lyngboe, Holly Manalili, Raeleigh Menke, Luke Miller, Brittney Newsome, Shileigh Oceguera, Logan Pfeiffer, Kaitlin Potter, Colin Riley, Josie Scholl, Darren Segner, Ray Sharkey, Maggie Vyhnalek and Madison Zumpfe Special thanks to Friend Legion Commander Ron Corbett for helping drive students to and from the event.
